A Pair of Large Antique Victorian Emerald Glass Wedding Bell with clear Beehive Handle c1860.
Designed as a decorative wedding present, every wealthy home during the Victorian Period would have had one of these.
The bells were an unusual part of the output and are now thought to be, like loving cups and rolling pins, work the glassblowers made at the end of a day on their own time.
Rich, Emerald colour; with a opalescent rim and applied crystal beehive handle, in fantastic condition, no chips or cracking, note handle and bell are attached by original victorian glue, as a precaution I wouldn't lift the bell just by its handle. Rare to find with clapper, unfortunately this bell no longer has one, buts still a stunning item, any way who wants to ring a glass bell?
There is also a slight variation in the size of both bells, due to being hand made.
