Late Victorian to Edwardian blue opalescent art glass posy vase, frequently produced by the renowned glass houses of Stourbridge, England (such as Thomas Webb & Sons and Stevens & Williams) between 1890 and 1910.
they feature a vertically ribbed or lobed bulbous lower body that pinches at the neck, with the rim opening up into a dramatic, wide-flared, and wavy crimped edge. The striking blue-green or aquamarine base glass transitions into a milky, fiery opalescent halo around the ruffled collar. This effect was achieved by reheating the edges of heat-sensitive glass formulations during the hand-blowing process.
