Antique Edwardian James Powell and Sons Vaseline glass brides basket with Silver plated stand

£175.00

Bride's baskets became popular in the mid-19th century and were used to display the bridal bouquet or as part of the table setting at the wedding reception. They are now considered collectible antiques. The style of the basket in the image appears to be influenced by Art Nouveau or Jugendstil, known for flowing lines and natural motifs.

The glass bowl with a turquoise rim and opalescent striping stands atop a silver plated Art Nouveau style stand with delicate feet.

Brilliant condition, no chips or cracks to glass, EPNS stand it in fantastic condition also, and have been sensitively polished to restore this item it's former glory.

Fantastic green glow to the glass, starting at the bottom where it's more concentrated, note: images taken with UV light torch, 395nm wavelength

Bowl height 6 x width 13 cm

Stand height 16 x width of 18 cm

All items are sensitively and minimally cleaned

Any questions please don't hesitate to drop me a message. I am very happy to pass on any additional information, or images you may need, if you are interested in more than one item I can arrange a combined postage price. Many thanks.

All items will be packaged using recycled or reused materials to help minimise any environmental impact.

Please be aware that you are purchasing a vintage item. We mention any obvious defects to the glass such as chips, cracks, etc. in our description but there may also be minor manufacturing faults eg. marks from the mould, straw marks and air bubbles, which is normal for glass of this era.
