Large Antique Victorian Cranberry Glass Wedding Bell with clear Beehive Handle c1860

£88.00

A 19th-century c.1860 Cranberry glass bell with a clear spire handle above a large bell.

Designed as a decorative wedding present, every wealthy home during the Victorian Period would have had one of these.

The bells were an unusual part of the output and are now thought to be, like loving cups and rolling pins, work the glassblowers made at the end of a day on their own time.

Rich, dark cranberry colour; applied crystal beehive handle, in fantastic condition, no chips or cracking, note handle and bell are attached by original victorian glue, as a precaution I wouldn't lift the bell just by its handle. Rare to find with clapper, unfortunately this bell no longer has one, buts still a stunning item, any way who wants to ring a glass bell?

Width 12 x Height 27.5 x depth of bell 11 cm

All items are sensitively and minimally cleaned

Any questions please don't hesitate to drop me a message. I am very happy to pass on any additional information, or images you may need, if you are interested in more than one item I can arrange a combined postage price. Many thanks.

All items will be packaged using recycled or reused materials to help minimise any environmental impact.

Please be aware that you are purchasing a vintage item. We mention any obvious defects to the glass such as chips, cracks, etc. in our description but there may also be minor manufacturing faults eg. marks from the mould, straw marks and air bubbles, which is normal for glass of this era.
