Victorian Burmese art glass vase. This specific design is a melon-ribbed, twisted swirl posy vase featuring a soft yellow base that shifts into a salmon-pink ruffled rim.
While historically many similar Bohemian imports were attributed broadly to the Harrach Glassworks or Franz Welz, identical shapes and color applications are highly characteristic of late 19th-century Fenton Glass (such as their "Wavecrest" melon-twisted shapes) and classic Stourbridge Thomas Webb & Sons "Queen's Burmese" line. True Burmese glass is known for containing uranium, which causes it to glow vibrant green under a UV/blacklight.
Burmese glass, which is an opaque, semi-translucent art glass. The formula mixes uranium oxide with a small amount of gold. When part of the yellow glass is reheated, the gold reacts to turn that section a salmon-pink shade, creating the iconic two-tone sunset
