Trilobite Hollardops found in Devonian Limestone Morocco
Hollardops is a genus of trilobite that lived during the Devonian Period, approximately 419 to 359 million years ago. Fossils of this marine arthropod are commonly found in the Anti-Atlas Mountains of Morocco, including areas such as Djebel Issoumour and Djebel Oufaten. The name "trilobite" refers to their three-lobed body structure, which is divided into a raised central lobe and two flatter pleural lobes.
Hollardops is a member of the order Phacopida and is known for its well-preserved, multifaceted schizochroal eyes. The genus also features long genal spines that extend from the head shield, or cephalon, to about the sixth thoracic segment.
